Hey, my family is going to the Viva Vallarta Resort near Punta de Mita in
January. We are taking shortboards , but I was wondering if anyone knows if
there would be a surf shop nearby that might rent longboards. The resort is
about a half hour from Puerto Vallarta. The hotel does have about a dozen
boards there to use , but if we travel at all we can't take them with us. In
Costa Rica last year we rented longboards for $20.00 a day and that was
cheaper then if we had flown there with them and sooooo much easier. That's
what I'm hoping to find again. Any help would be greatly appreciated , plus
feedback on the resort would be cool if you have ever been there.
Thanks, Doreen

I was there last March. Surfed at Punta Mita and Punta Burro. The surf was
just so-so.

We stayed at the dumpy hotel on the beach. It was cheap and not very clean.
I am not sure about the hotel where you are staying.

I can't remember any shops renting surfboards. You will probably need
longboards though if you surf the spots I mentioned.

I rented some crappy but functional boards on the beach in Sayulita -- about
a 20 minute drive further north.

I think the place on the main highway has rentals, a couple of miles
before you climb the hills that makes the punta so mita.

when i was down there i boated into punta de mita from the north -- about a
40 minute ride.

is there a better way to access the good waves out on the point, just south
of the four seasons hotel?

anyone find surf there in march/april? i always thought it was strictly
summer/fall.

There's a tourist place at the marina which is right near all the resort places
in N. Vallarta. Turn into the marina and follow the signs to Centro de
Communicaciones (sp) de Puerto V...it's right next door.
